I wrote the verse for this song a couple of years ago during a period of frustration. I had a record deal that wasn't working out, I felt isolated and wasn't feeling very inspired to write or compose much. That resulted in a lot of pent up anger. One night out of some type of manic state I started writing the text for this song. It pretty much came out with the music attached to it. The writing felt like praying, asking to be shown a way out.

The chorus was written about a year later, It came from a more humorous place, trying to make sense of where my head was at at the time, but with a more light hearted approach. It's funny when songs work like that, when you need to be two different people to write a verse and a chorus.
